Design and MESS Manager

We are looking for a talanted individual to oversee and manage the Design Team to ensure mechanical, electrical and pneumatic designs are executed and completed in line with Project Briefs, scheduled timelines and handed over for manufacturing with all completed requirements. Ensure that equipment subject to MESS standards are compliance and all required approvals are in place.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Attend all Project Brief Meetings and Design Concept Meetings
• Allocate adequate timing for new jobs, using expertise or mobilising peer design meetings.
• Oversee the whole design process for each designer, using technical expertise and experience.
• Initiate regular (daily) team and individual touch base meetings with Designers to monitor and ensure progress or offer support.
• Solve design problems, learn and implement corrective actions to reduce future mistakes to improve overall efficiencies.
• Identify areas of strength and areas needing attention or training within the design team.
• Motivate and encourage the design team to work cohesively.
• Act as gatekeeper to assist mechanical team mambers with ad hoc design queries; manage or delegate.
• Ensure drawings and designs are produced to CHW Design SOP standards: ontime, to a high quality, and adequate detail.
• Provide leadership, mentoring, technical support, and workflow improvements for CAD as well as equipment design.
• Scrutinise designs, detailed drawing and BOMs before handover for fabrication.
• Ensure MESS is applied to relevant equipment where required as per PepsiCo standards. Lead the approval process and liaise directly with the client during the process.
• Including all tasks associated with the position as Design Manager or as the employemenr may from time to time direct.
